Solidarity in communities is essential to reduce stigma and promote the involvement of people living with HIV in order to ensure a more effective HIV response.     A Centenary of Canberra Project, Parties at the Shops provides an opportunity to celebrate the local community in creative ways with a collection of events in non‑traditional venues in Canberra’s suburbs.  Canberra’s suburban shops are a unique part of the city’s landscape, each has its own personality and character.  On Canberra’s 100th birthday, residents will be invited to come to their local shops, meet their neighbours, and experience artists of all varieties. Quintets and costumes in the chemist’s, poetry in the post office, bands at the bakery, circus performers on the car park, buskers in the boutique, hip hop at the hairdresser, writers at the real estate: every party will be different, representing the unique features and characters of that community. A great way to raise a glass to our nation’s capital on its 100th birthday!

    Parkinson’s ACT promotes the well-being and interests of people with Parkinson’s disease and their families, friends and carers in the ACT and nearby region.
    The group have begun a small 10 minute sing-along segment before their monthly meetings and our visit will include teaching the chorus of some simple world music songs. It will also build on our past assistance with introducing new material to be added to their growing songbook.

    The Heart and Soul Singers performed at the launch of the artist/proof which is a visual arts exhibition, celebrating International Day of People with Disability – exploring concepts of identity, accessibility, connection, wellbeing and acceptance.
